Interwebs Surfin'

So I hope you all are having a wondering NEws Year EVe, Eve... as it were. Anyways found 2 mundanely kool sites today and decided to share.

first one is a blog, by a young lady by the name of Sarah. She may be you typical trendy nyc chick but she's a also a solid writer and is rather funny.
check it out here.

2nd Site

It's called "White People Trying to Look Serious", yea you probably wont find the meaning of life looking at this site (damn). But it's one of those "Dumber than a bucket of Shrimp" type sites that's just funny cuz you can't believe it even exists. which is partly why it's so awesome. If you know anyone that deserves to be on this site shoot them an email. I'd love to see someone I know on there. Propz to Sarah for the find.

Here are my two favs
Peep the Double Dare Shirt, I need that.

check it out here.

STUFF to be GEEKED about..

OH ok so I went into Gamestop today for like the first time in like a year or just to check out if there were any good used games. Found One, which shall remain nameless for the time being. ANyways as I was paying i saw a Pre-Order Box for SKATE2 and FREAked out. I've been a fan of skating, and skate game all my life and this is no exception. 1 of my roomies last year had the first one and seriously played it a ton, and i dont really consider my self much of gamer and more. The realistic physics engine combine with the diffcult trick system makes for a challenging yet additively fun game. Anyways I also assumed there was be a sequel just didn't know when. Here's the trailer:

game drops 1/29 I will be getting it.

First Trnfmrs 2 Shots
^*Smh* Ms. fox...

TRANFORMERS 2: Rise of the Fallen will be out early June 09'
Shits about to be epic you already know.

THIS WEEKS: DOPE POETRY

Black Ice

This is probably my favorite spoken word poem of ALL TIME. Some of the words might not make sense in the context of which he says them, unless you know where he's coming from. Growing up in inner city Detroit for alittle less than half of my life now, I can really relate to what he's saying. I would make this mandatory for all Black males ages 16-25 to watch this if I could. Even if you don't fully get he's saying the passion that he has as he performs his poem is incredible. I find it to be very inspiring everytime I watch it, and I've this video probably over 12 times. Thought this would a good way to end this years Dope Poetry posts.

*SPECIAL BONUS VID*
Talib Kweli - "Hell"

"Those who Lookin' for god know to go inside...."
Just because I missed posting last week.

*Finger Snapping*
Enjoy

Zoom Camera Lens Coffe Mug

It's a EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM Lense to be exact. A very expensive lens. Unfortunately this is just a concept desgin, but if it ever did come out I'd have to get one. Depending on the price.

Addressing the shoe throwing incident

OK OK OK, i realize now all of you if not most of you have seen or heard about this incident by now. If your one of those people that just has been living under a rock, as I do sometimes, please watch this 2 minute video and you will get the jist of it.

*incerting my 2cents*
After the shoes had been thrown busch continued on by saying "The guy wanted to get on TV and he did," said the puzzled president. "I don't know what his beef is. But whatever it is I'm sure somebody will hear it."
Are you FLIPPIN kidding me??! This is a sign of truly how far we've come in the YEARS and the BILLIONS of dollars wasted in that country. Pedistrians/press alike have now been granted permission throw shoes at politico elitist. We need to GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE. God forbid some1 should of get of upset about a foreign government policing/governing their own country while not having ANY say in the matter and not having proper way to redress their grievances. While at the same time millions of innocent people are being killed and slaugtered.

Mr. Zaidi's(the shoe thrower) inexplicable "beef," of course, is his entirely understandable resentment and rage over the foreign occupation of his country, and the needless death of innocent people. Unlike Bush, who has made only a handful of lightning-quick visits to Baghdad fleeting appearances under the cover of impenetrable security, during which he was spared any exposure to the gratitude of the pitiful people he "liberated" Zaidi lives in Iraq. He has to live with the consequences of Bush's whimsical little venture in mass murder and social destruction. A few shoes to the face seems like a miniscule reprimand for the shear insurmountable damage Busch, the U.S. Government, and their policies have done to that country and its' people.

The U.S. should move back to it's orginal foreign policy that was agreed upon by the founding fathers which simply states: "free trade with all, entangling alliances with none.” It is the best nonagressionist and noninvertionist to date, and it would do the least about of harm to greatest number of people. With alliances things such as WWII, the Gulf war, and the Vietname war occured. It is because governments continue to occupy other countries agianst their will that situations like 9/11 happen, NOT BECAUSE THEY WANT TO OUR FREEDOM. Going into these countries and forcing democratic ideals and a set of morals is wrong. And puts of the lives of people like you and I at risk EVENTHOUGH WE HAVE LITTLE TO NO SAY IN THE MATTER. And want nothing to do with it. And aprefer to live our lives in peace a volunteerist society like we do now for the most part anyway.

this is something ive been wanting ot get off my chest for awhile i was gonna do it yesterday but because of the holidays i thought it would be in better taste to do it afterwards. Politics make me sick.
*end rant*

back to the nerdy stuff :)

The Sickest designed HS ever - Central L.A. area High School #9

It's gonna be a Visual & Performing Arts School. It was designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au and will be ready to go for the September 09' term. The auditorium will hold just under a 1000 people. There are 4 main buildings, one for each art discipline. Man If had an opportunity to go here I might of enjoyed HS alittle. I'm still glad I was able to go to an vocational school for part of the day it really helped break of up the monotony that is High School.

Coop Himmelb(l)au’s design concept is to use architectural signs as symbols to communicate the commitment of the Los Angeles community to Art. Like chess figures three sculptural buildings, which relate to the context of downtown Los Angeles and the program, redefine spatially and energetically the otherwise orthogonal arrangement of the master plan.

Just so you know: new music player

I've been looking around for a good flash music player for awhile. I now believe I have found one that is easy to use and set up. Should be able to see on the right side, I'm still deciding on the colors although red is my favorite color. I'll keep everyone posted on changes. Other than that it should autoplay when you load my blog page and it works just like iPod would. Enjoy.

1000 And One Faces

L'homme 100 têtes from Julien Lassort on Vimeo.

Julien Lassort and Matthieu Burlot (France) explored the human face, the most exposed and personal part of the human body. Their dynamic portrayal of 1000 and one faces is a mosaic of portraits and emotions that plays off of the power of faces seen close up. Julien Fargo composed the melody that encapsulates the film.

Sk8 Wallet

You turn old favorite decks into a "Sk8 Wallet".

I have an old Birdhouse deck in garage just waiting to be used again lol. I'll put this on my official "Things to do List".

These brilliant black nylon wallets are made from new & recycled skateboard decks, with each side handcrafted and fitted to the wallet's rectangular shape, and then edge-sanded to their
thinnest point for sleek durability.

You can get it done here for just $60... Fairly reasonable for a dope 1 of 1 wallet imo.

Takara Tomy Xiao Camera craps pictures

These promotional clips for Takara Tomy’s new Xiao digital camera/printer hybrid drives the point home that the pocket size camera can output its own tiny photo prints - apparently by pooping them out.

those whack japanese... what will they think of next?

A Merry Christmas from the boys

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from me to all of you. And best of luck in the new year to you and your family. Cherish these moments with them because nothin's ever promised tomorrow, today. Be sure to let them know how much you appreciate them being for you in your life. I think Yeezy said it best actually:

"If you admire somebody, you should go head and tell em',
People never get the flowers, while they can still smell em'."

New VW Ads

MATRIX + Rumble in the Bronx + VW = DOPE

Toy Story' - See Films Differently

I don't really watch much TV anymore but these are probably in the top 10 best Ads/Commercials this year for sure.

It's been a long time since i saw a VW ad that I didnt love. Remember the ones with John Mayer?? Or this one? this was probably one of my all time favs:

whoever is coming up with these ads should get a raise and *thumbs up* from me. Good job mate.

JOKE

everyones seen the obama, but clearly this is better. dopeness indeed. I watched the dark knight TWICE this week. well more like 1 an half times the first time i was doing something else, art related, so i wasnt really watching. At any rate, after watching it again later in the week it reminded me that rarely do ever enjoy EVERY scene that a character is in a film. Heath really delivered, if he doesnt ATLEAST get nominated for an oscar the academy awards will lose all credibility in my book.

N.E.R.D. - Sooner or Later

love the concept for the video, really fits with the times.

THIS WEEKS: Dope Poetry

Gemineye - "What are you Fighting For?"

This is one of the main reason why I love hip hop. it's spoken word poetry with music. Def Poetry is one of my favorite shows of all time. So I've decided to share with you guys some of my favorite poems/poets that performed on this show.

Death Cab For Cutie - You Woke Up My Neighbourhood (Bill Bragg)

I flippin love ben's voice. my goal this break is to learn this cover.

THIS WEEKS: MUSIC ON REPEAT

Chutes Too Narrow is one of the best indie records in recent years without a doubt. I'm in cali for the next fews days so I'll either have more time to blog or less. Not sure yet.

LOVELOCKDOWN / HEARTLESS

LOVE LOCKDOWN

HEARTLESS

some of the top blogs out there have been heavily critiquing these peformances as sort of a bashing excerise. I however found these performances to be the best yet of these songs. As always the the best things about these blog posts are teh comment here are two that agreed with the most:

What's so endearing about this "era" of his career is how willing he is to be pretty much vocally "naked" in front of an international television audience. He knows he's missing a few notes, he knows he's just screaming the last chorus on "Love Lockdown" but - he's also smart enough to realize that the technical shortcomings of someone's music don't really matter in the end. It's
what you were trying to say, and how successfully you said it. Kanye is feeling vulnerable, heartbroken, emotional, etc. and it's coming through in his music. 808s and Heartbreak (and the live performances that accompany it) portrays that. It's an artistic success. Might I remind you, Bob Dylan (for example, not necessarily comparing the two) was never able to sing "well" - but he kept saying what he wanted to say.

I thought both tracks were great. He's giving everything he can to put on a great emotional and visually stunning performance. Its funny that there are a few mentions of Dylan on this thread. Remember how well Dylan's change of direction was received in '64? You should be ashamed of yourselves for knocking someone for expressing their creativity in a new and interesting way. I can't think of any other rappers or top 40 artists that are willing to take the risks Kanye is taking with his music and his reputation.
